New Mohegan Sun Land Casino in Palmer, Massachusetts?

People in Palmer are talking about the possibility of a new Mohegan Sun casino coming to their town. According to news reports, it seems that the majority (approx. 90%) want the casino and think it will help the struggling town do better business overall and the few are of course, totally against it as usual, saying that it will do more harm than good. But all agree that the possibility of a new casino in town is practically the talk of the town with everyone.

Gov. Deval L. Patrick had also announced that he wanted to auction three casino licenses in the state but the Legislature still has to approve casino gaming.

Northeast Realty, the owner of about 150 acres across from the turnpike, has an agreement with Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun to develop an entertainment-gaming venue at the site and the group wants to bid on the possible Western Massachusetts casino license.

Leon H. Dragone, manager of Northeast Realty has stated that the site is an excellent site for the purposes and that:

It’s preferable to other sites in Holyoke and Chicopee in that it has direct access to the pike,”
