The History of Spielbank Bad Kissingen

Bad Kissingen began very simply - the Roulette game had already enjoyed great popularity in Bad Kissingen at the beginning of the 19th Century and for the first time in 1800, the so-called Hazard game came into being. But in 1849, Max King II of Bavaria banned the game due to fears that the citizens were suffering a general moral decay. Only 106 years later, in July 1955, luck returned to Bad Kissingen and the Bad Kissingen casino was re-opened, at that time, by a private owner.

The state of Bavaria took over the casino in 1961 and six years later, in 1967, it was rebuilt and restored. To the delight of visitors to the region, the Luitpold-Casino reopened with a restaurant and cafe the 1st October 1968.

In recent years, not only the great dice game but playing cards as well as casino vending machine games have become increasingly popular and stand high on the course for winners. A 30 year old building contractor from Franks had particular luck in 2000 and hit the Bavarian 1.3 million DM (Deutsche Mark) jackpot. And, hard to believe, this same man won 4.2 million DM in the “Lotto on Saturday” on the same day exactly one year ago.

Bad Kissingen is still a member of the Bayerische Spielbank - The magnificent rooms of the Luitpold Casino radiate the charm of past eras. Feel the spirit of those times and you will meet Fortuna in an extraordinary atmosphere at Bad Kissingen. A visitor can allow themselves to be spoilt rotten in the casino restaurant where tasty morsels of local and international cuisine await them.
